A Dundee funeral director business has shown its support for one of the city’s top amateur women’s football teams by sponsoring their team tracksuits.

Affertons Funeral Care has kitted out Dundee West WFC women’s senior team in brand new tracksuits which they have been proudly wearing for all their home and away fixtures.

The partnership came about when one of the players, Yasmin Anderson, was chatting to Paul Craigie, a family friend and Funeral Director at Affertons, about how the team didn’t have a proper kit for travelling to away games. From that conversation, Paul decided to help.

The support from Paul and his colleagues, Graham Gordon, Alice Morrison and Ronnie Robb at Affertons, also a close knit team, has meant the Dundee West WFC team can look the part going to matches while highlighting how local businesses can support community groups.

Yasmin said:

“It’s very important to us to have the support of local businesses who serve the community and we hope that the sponsorship can be beneficial to both Affertons and Dundee West WFC. We are playing a Scotland-wide league this season and have had a lot of long trips to make to matches. We rely on the kindness of businesses providing sponsorship in order to provide kit for the team and having the new tracksuits bearing the Affertons logo has made a big difference as we travel to games.”
